AllergoCHECK© is a first step to finding out if you have an allergy. It does not diagnose allergy. The test results should be considered together with other clinical information. The final diagnosis must be confirmed by a doctor or allergy specialist.
AllergoCHECK© is a rapid testing kit to help you find out if your symptoms could be caused by an allergy to any of these three major allergens: grass pollen, house dust mite and cat. Or a combination of these allergens. You can perform the test yourself, in the comfort of your own home.
Everything you need is included in the package. You have to do a quick skin prick on your finger to obtain a small blood sample. The leaflet in the box includes step-by-step instructions how to do the test and how to read the results. It’s important to read the instructions carefully before performing the test.
What does the test show?
When you have an allergy, your body's immune system overreacts to harmless substances called allergens. In the most common type of allergy (type 1 allergy), this perceived threat triggers your immune system to form immunoglobulin E antibodies, or IgE antibodies as they are also known. IgE in your blood means that you are sensitised and you may experience allergy symptoms to the particular allergen when exposed. AllergoCHECK© can detect these specific antibodies in your blood, which have been triggered by grass pollen, dust mites and cat allergens.
If the test has been performed according to the instructions, you will be able to see the results in 10 minutes. The instruction leaflet also gives you details about how to interpret the AllergoCHECK© test results.
If the test shows a positive result for sensitisation towards any of the potential allergens, we recommend you consult your doctor for further diagnosis and advice.
If the test shows a negative result for sensitisation to grass pollen, dust mites and cat, but you’re experiencing symptoms, we recommend you seek advice from your GP. You may be sensitised to other allergens or there might be other reasons for your symptoms.
Specific IgE determination such as AllergoCHECK© is a first step to finding out if you have an allergy. A final diagnosis must be confirmed by a doctor or allergy specialist, who will look at your medical history as well as further clinical information and other tests.
