Symptom relievers for skin allergy & eczema
There are a number of topical treatments available both over the counter and on prescription to relieve the symptoms of dermatitis, urticaria, and atopic eczema.
From your local pharmacy
Hydrocortisone creams, calamine lotion, and antihistamines can help to relieve itching; while intensive moisturising lotions will soothe and soften skin.
Colloidal oatmeal – a natural ingredient in some eczema-friendly moisturisers – often calms the skin when mixed with warm water.
From your GP
More severe conditions may require stronger steroid creams to relieve inflammation. These are designed for short-term use and can only be prescribed by your GP.
